Hello Fellow Ham Radio Operators:
On Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 1015 AM PDT, the National Weather Service Forecast Offices in Seattle, Portland, Spokane, and Pendleton will participate in the Great Washington ShakeOut Earthquake and tsunami drill with state and local emergency management officials. This is part of a global earthquake preparedness effort.
"National Weather Service Offices across Washington will disseminate
a Required Monthly Test (RMT) message via the 21 NOAA Weather Radio
stations that serve the state to activate the Emergency Alert System
(EAS) to help kickoff the Great ShakeOut drill on October 15th at
1015 AM PDT. Broadcasters will carry the EAS message on television
and radio to help reach more of the state`s residents, along with
those who have all-hazard weather radio receivers. This will not be
a test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) sent to cell phones."
Listen to your NOAA Weather Radios for the alert.
After the Alert Get on the primary frequency, 7.225 MHz and check in
and provide a status report for your area noting that this is a DRILL
