The Anderson Island Amateur Radio Club (AIARC) started with a small group of island hams that decided to have a weekly on-air net during the summer of 2020. The first two founding members of this group were Dave, KA7ICM(SK) and Steve, AI7SV. Dave encouraged Steve to get his license and they started an informal net on Fridays at 4 pm. The number of participants slowly grew over the months and as the Covid-19 lock down came upon us, being able to connect with fellow hams during this time was important. In November 2020 the group decided to form a club and in February, 2021, the club received the call sign “WA7AI”.
